Hepatitis

Symptoms: 

The symptoms of hepatitis include Pain or bloating in the belly area dark urine and pale or clay-colored stools, low fever, itching of skin, Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), nausea and vomiting and weight loss.

Tests to diagnose: 

Liver biopsy and blood tests to evaluate liver function are conducted to detect hepatitis. In addition specific hepatitis antibodies tests are conducted to find which type it is (Hepatitis A/B/C).

Treatment: 

If liver failure occurs then a liver transplantation would be necessary. It is treated with drugs such as lamivudine and adefovir dipivoxil (Hepatitis B) and peginterferon and ribovarin (Hepatitis C).
